The church is led by a leadership made up of Ministry Team members who work full or part-time for the church and in the community, and also ‘deacons’. This title is found in the Bible to describe those that helped lead early churches – and its literal translation is, ‘one who serves’. We’re here to serve others.

 Lead Minister – Simon Robinson

Hello – I’ve been the Lead Minister at WRBC since August 2016 and I love it here! Before coming here I have led Churches in Essex, Hampshire and Derbyshire. I also had a couple of years working as Derbyshire Co-ordinator for Redeeming our Communities: a great Christian organisation that brings people of good-will together to create kinder safer communities.

My role at WRBC is to lead the church and to support and equip them to live for Jesus and realise our vision of being hope in the heart of our community. This involves teaching and preaching, pastoral care, overseeing and resourcing the House Groups and looking after the Ministry Team. I am also very active in connecting our church with the local community.

Hazel and I have been married since 1982 and we have two grown-up sons and three grandchildren.

I spend a lot of my spare time listening to Indie and Electronic music, going to gigs and sifting through vinyl at record shops.

Children & Family Worker – Jo Mizen

Hi I’m Joanne and I began my role as Children and Families worker in
August 2018. I help to run our different children’s groups on a Sunday
morning and in the week as well as some school visits. I’m excited
about helping children get to know Jesus and his love for them. I am
passionate about God’s heart for those in need and particularly for
children in foster care and for adoptive families. I live with my
husband, Elliott and our two children. When I’m not messing about with
playdough and double sided sticky tape at church, I love to bake (and
eat!) cake. Our family like to be outdoors so we spend our weekends
exploring the woods and countryside with our dog and looking after our
chickens.

Youth Worker – Liam O’kane

Hi, I’m Liam. I started my role as youth worker here at the end of July 2017 and I am loving being part of the church family and the opportunities it is presenting me to work with and support young people in the community. This is my first full time job for a church having very recently completely my degree in Youth and Community Work with Practical Theology.  I, along with my wife Mel and our son Joe, have felt so warmly welcomed by the church and are excited to see what our future holds here. When I’m not beavering away at church I can be found gigging around the country, somewhere climbing up a crag in the Peak District or falling off my skateboard at Titchfield Skate Park, come and find me!

WRBC Administrator – Helen Branson

Hello, I’m Helen and the Church Administrator at Watnall Road Baptist Church. I joined the staff team in November 2013. Until now I have been involved in administration in the charity sector, and most recently looking after a school’s computer system. I have two young and energetic sons, Jack & Liam. I have taken this role because I want to serve and help the church to run smoothly. I also love meeting and supporting people, so please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you feel I can help with any enquiry.
