Watnall Road BaIMG_5007ptist Church has opened a Community Internet Hub. While many families have their own computers and internet access, there is a significant minority that haven’t. And there are times when this is not merely inconvenient, it is essential.

For instance, if someone is looking for work, money is short, a computer not working, and so just at the time of greatest need, it becomes a major blockage.

Watnall Road Baptist Church heard about internet and computer access being lost while Hucknall Library is being redeveloped, and decided this service was something to make available to the general public. Usage of computer and internet will be free, and the only cost will be printing. It is sited at the front of this well-known town building in one of its landmark towers. It will be open weekday mornings when its popular community Coffee Shop is open.

The Lead Minister, Rev Stephen Ibbotson says, ‘We are committed to developing our building for much wider community use. We already have many groups and activities for different ages and interests, and we want to see this develop further. So we’ve drawn up plans to turn what may be seen as private religious space into public community space. This new initiative is part of this process of making our building not just ‘their space’ but ‘IMG_5003our space’ – for everyone in our community. Over the next few years we plan to invest significant capital into making what is already a lovely building at the front, into a whole suite of modern, accessible and welcoming spaces for the community. We want our Community Internet Hub to help those most in need of computer access.’

Open Monday – Friday (Term time only) 9am-12pm on a first come first served basis.
